Swamp land, Big Lake: Picked lots of red currants. Skunk currants are also ripe. Picked a nice amount of ripe early blueberries. Elderberries seem red in sunny spots and green in shady spots. Crowberries and bog cranberries seem almost ready in spots.

Swamp land, Big Lake: Red currants are mostly orangey tomato-red. Skunk currants red. Bog cranberry flowering or with small green berries. Lowbush cranberries are mostly small and green. Some early blueberries turning purple.

Palmer Hay Flats State Game Refuge, Wasilla: Northern black currants starting to turn blue/black. Most still green. Watermelon berries green. Bog cranberry flowering.

Swamp land, Big Lake: Bog blueberries are big and green. Red currants are beginning to look pink. (Berries on other currants here are greener still.) Most elderberry flowers have dropped off their green berries. Watermelon plants are flowering or have small green berries. Raspberries small and green. Bog cranberry flowering. Cloudberry has small, hard berries.

Girdwood: Blueberries and trailing currants are small and green. Lots of beautiful blooms on trailing raspberry, salmonberry, cloudberry, bog cranberry. Some small berries forming.

Swamp land, Big Lake: Currant flowers have been going absolutely crazy all over the Valley. I’ve seen many red currant and skunk currant flowers particularly. Red elderberry plants have purplish green heads getting ready to flower. Blueberries flowering. Timberberry flowering. Bog cranberry flowering.

Big Lake: For last three days picked lots more lowbush and bog cranberries by forests, swamps, and lakes. Found a few patches of blueberries still hanging on.

North Shore, Big Lake: Picked bog cranberries and lowbush cranberries. Both types are big and fat this year.

Nordic trails, Girdwood: Forest- Picked Alaska and Early blueberries. Enough berries are ripe to go picking, but plenty are still green. Trailing black currants and trailing raspberries are plentiful and almost ripe. Perfect watermelon berries, elderberries, and reddening highbush cran plentiful here (like everywhere). In the meadows- cloudberries are plentiful and perfect/tasty! Really good bog blueberries too. Bog cranberries red but not ripe.

Swamp land, Big Lake: Lots of (green) bog and lowbush cranberries, some starting to redden. Crowberries are tart but pickable. Most cloudberries are half ripe. Blueberries have some green some ripe.
